What is Mat Pilates?

Mat Pilates is a low-impact exercise practice performed on a mat using your own bodyweight, breath and focus. Based on the original method developed by Joseph Pilates, it builds deep core strength, improves posture, increases flexibility and enhances the connection between your body and mind.


Unlike gym-based exercise, Mat Pilates works from the inside out — targeting the deep stabilising muscles that support your spine, joints and everyday movement. The results go far beyond the studio.

What Mat Pilates do we offer?

We offer a wide range of Mat classes to suit every body and every stage of life:


General Mat Classes

Suitable for beginners through to advanced. Our mixed-level classes are functional, engaging and energising — and our teachers are skilled at adapting exercises so everyone works at the right level for them.


Gentle Pilates (Chronic Pain)

Specifically designed for people living with chronic pain. A slower-paced, deeply supportive class that helps you move with more ease and less discomfort.


EDS & Hypermobility Mat Pilates

One of very few classes of its kind in the area. Designed specifically for clients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders, JHS and associated neurodivergent conditions. Our teachers have specialist training in this field.


Pregnancy Mat Pilates

A safe, nurturing class for women from 16 weeks pregnant. We help you understand how your body is changing and how to exercise in a way that helps both you and your baby thrive.


Postnatal Mat Pilates

Focused on rehabilitation, core reconnection and building functional strength after birth. Babies up to crawling stage are welcome. Maximum 6 women per class.


Dynamic Mat Pilates

A more challenging class for those looking to push further and work harder — still low impact but with more intensity and complexity.

How do I get started?

If you’re brand new to Pilates, we recommend starting with our 6 Week Foundation Course or a Private 1:1 session before joining group Mat classes. This ensures you have the foundations in place to get the most from every class.
