We understand that exercise post-birth can be the least of your worries, especially if you’ve had a difficult labour. However, when you are ready, we welcome you to join our restorative Pilates class for mum and baby (you don’t have to bring your little one if you don’t want to). During this 50 minute session we shall work on improving the connection between your core and pelvic floor, strengthen and stabilise your entire body using the Reformer machines. Pilates is a very safe, gentle and highly effective exercise class, you can take part from six weeks after birth if you had a vaginal birth and 12 weeks if you had a C-section. Please do get clearance from your midwife or talk to your GP if you are unsure about when to return to exercise.
Pilates for postnatal mums is great for:
Babies under crawling age are welcome. We have mats they can lie on and the teachers are always looking for an excuse for a cuddle. You are welcome to feed or change your baby in class. Prams and car seats are welcome.
